HSA Next Week for Grade 3
The third grade classes will be doing our HSA test next week Tuesday to Friday. We will be doing the reading test on Tuesday and Wednesday and the math test on Thursday and Friday.
Here are some tips to help prepare your child for the test:
1. Go to bed at a reasonable time. so you are well rested the next day.
2. Eat a good, healthy breakfast.
3. Bring a snack that you can eat at recess. (Our test starts at 10:00am everyday).
4. Bring a jacket or sweater if you get cold. The test will be in the library.
5. Bring an AR book to read after you are done testing.
Good luck! This will be your first HSA test. Do your best! if you don't pass, you will have another chance in April.

Simple Machine Projects
Everyone did a great job with their Simple Machine projects. We had a nice variety of pulleys, wheel and axels, screws, inclined planes, and wedges. Some projects even had a combination of simple machines! Super job, B23 students!

Harvesting Vermicast From the Worm Bin
We have been feeding and caring for our compost worms for the past few months. Last week we harvested the rich vermicast that the worms produced. Vermicast is the organic matter that the worms produce after eating food scraps. It makes excellent fertilizer!
We emptied the worm bin contents on a tarp, then picked through it to find all of the worms. After we separated out the worms, we added the vermicast to one of our garden beds. We mixed it into the soil and it will help to fertilize the soil. We can't wait to see how well the plants that go into that bed will grow!
