May Day Info

We're looking forward to our May Day program on Friday. The children have been working hard on perfecting their maypole dance. They look great and are excited to do it for you! Here a a few reminders for Friday:

1. Don't forget your homemade mat to sit on.
2. Wear your May Day outfit to school on Friday. boys should wear a collared shirt (preferably white or light color), dark colored shorts, and shoes. Girls should wear a dress (preferably solid color or small print) and sandals or shoes.
3. Girls should tie their hair back (half up and half down or make two pigtails. Please see the two examples below. We will be pinning the headband to their hair.
4. I would like to ask for a couple of moms to help pin the headbands in the girls' hair. Please let me know if you can help at 7:50.
5. We need donations of bobby pins. Please let me know if you can send in any.
6. Please apply sunscreen before you come to school.
7. You may bring a bottle of water to drink during the program on Friday.
8. Wait for the dismissal bell after the children return to class. You may sign your child out from his/her classroom after the bell.

Please let me know if you have any questions. See you on Friday!

Hawaiian Mission Homes

We visited the Hawaiian Mission Homes and learned a lot about missionary life in Hawaii long ago.
The three stations we visited were: missionary children dress up, printing press, and touring a missionary  home. Then we got to play outdoor games that children played long ago. That was really fun!
Lastly, we visited Kawaihao church next door. It was very impressive and beautiful!

B23 Speech Festival Contestants

Congratulations to Alexus, Karley, and Noah F. They did an awesome job at the Speech Festival and both groups got a special recognition certificate for superior performance. Here are some comments from the three of them.
Noah F.-  The Speech Festival was fun and I liked it. The best part was when we went to the two classes and we got to say our poems. My group did a good job!
Alexus- It was really fun participating in the Speech Festival in front of the judges and my family. I think my group did good and it didn't matter if you had a good score. It was about having fun.
Karley- The Speech Festival was good because we got to learn poems. I liked it because I got to perform in front of my family and the judges.

HSA Round 2

Yay! We completed our HSA reading test today! Many of the students increased their score since the first round test in February. All of the KidBiz and AR reading that they have done has really paid off! Please check your child's planner for his/her reading score.

We will be taking the HSA math test next week Tuesday and Wednesday. We have completed the math book, but the children can further prepare by: 1. Reviewing skills that they had trouble with on IXL, 2. Doing Math Whizz, 3. Reviewing all lessons in their math journal.

Please remember to get a good night's rest, eat a good breakfast and be on time.

Good luck on the HSA math next week!

Pet Rocks

Rocks are fun! A regular rock can be transformed into a work of art with a little imagination and some special touches! We had a great time creating our very own pet rock and writing a story about an adventure that our pet rocks went on. Take a look at our creations.

Kapunahala Fun Run

Run, jump, bounce, shoot, dance! These are some of the skills we were able to use at the fun run. We had a great time going through each station and doing the fun activities. We got a lot of exercise and helped to raise much needed funds for the school. Thank you to all of the families who donated and/or collected money. Your support is much appreciated!
